What's on in June at Love Books...

On June 8 we're celebrating our first birthday. We'll be serving cake (thank you to Anna), champagne (thank you to Graham Beck) and a literary gift for you (thank you to Book Promotions) in store on the day. We would love you to pop in and celebrate with us.

On June 10 Nathan Geffen will be launching his book Debunking Delusions: The inside story of the Treatment Action Campaign. He'll be in conversation with Justice Edwin Cameron and Andile Madondile of the TAC. Don't miss this one - e-vites to come but if you'd like to RSVP please do so at info@lovebooks.co.za

Story telling continues on Saturday mornings at 10 o'clock.

Hot Pick for June

Fruit of a Poisoned Tree: A true story of murder and the miscarriage of justice, by Antony Altbeker (Jonathan Ball)

From the moment you pick up this book and read the first chilling chapter you will not be able to put it down.

Antony Altbeker spent years following the Inge Lotz murder story and the subsequent trial where her boyfriend Fred van der Vyfer stood accused as her murderer. This is his riveting account of the investigation into the case.

More Hot Picks for June

Mr Rosenblum's List (or friendly guidance for the aspiring Englishman), by Natasha Solomons (Sceptre)

A delightful and charming first novel, this is the story of Jack Rosenblum, classified a 'class B' alien when he comes to London in 1937 to escape the Nazis. In his determination to become the perfect English Gentleman he cultivates some hilarious and touching habits like watching the BBC weather report every day and buying marmalade only from Fortnum & Masons. A lovely, warm read.

The Sorely Trying Day, by Russel Hoban (author) and Lillian Hoban (illustrator)
Originally published in the 60s, this quaint and nostalgic chidren's book has been republished by The New York Review of Books Children's Collection. A beautiful children's classic for your shelf.
